Personally I think working on altissimo IF you use it is a good idea, and the first 3-4 overtones are useful, but getting a million overtones is just a party trick.

I've got the 85% copper, which produces a warmer sound. You shouldn't have to pay full retail; got mine for $800 less than the 1st price quoted.

saintsday. 5142 posts · Joined 2005. #9 · Jan 16, 2009. I currently have 4 of them among about 70 horns. The alto that gets the most play is a 1927 True Tone. I like the key placement and very positive feel better than most modern horns with the exception of a post too close to the octave key.
Jun 20, 2010 · Price (I think) about $3200. 4. Yamaha 82Z: clearly the best horn I tried. The tone was great, bright, but not too and fairly full. The intonation was good, except for a couple of keys notes +30 cents. Mendini/Cecilio clearly copied the Yamaha ergonomics, as the key position was identical to my cheapie.

The last known Akustik saxophone was number 3749 (source Bassic-Sax). And as we see (Bvhoyweg writes) - perhaps the earliest "Weltklang" has the serial number 38xx. There is a photo of "Akustik" tenor with a neck with s/n 5386 on the Bassic-Sax site. But I assume that neck with this serial number is not original (from "Weltklang").
